David Beckham and Prince Harry once shared a close friendship, their bond seen by many as a testament to the camaraderie between British icons.

However, according to a shocking revelation in a new book, the relationship between the football superstar and the Duke of Sussex soured

after a perceived “snub” by Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, leading to Beckham reportedly seeking revenge years later.

The story dates back to May 2018, when Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding at Windsor Castle.

The event was a lavish affair, attended by A-list celebrities from both sides of the Atlantic, including Serena Williams, George Clooney, and Oprah Winfrey.

However, just months after their appearance at the wedding, the friendship between Beckham and Harry began to unravel.

In his book *House of Beckham*, royal expert Tom Bower sheds light on what he claims was a pivotal moment in the deteriorating relationship. The incident reportedly took place during the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, where Prince Harry was heavily involved in organizing and attending the event. Despite his close friendship with the Duke, Beckham found himself in an uncomfortable situation. According to Bower, Beckham arrived at the games with the expectation of meeting Harry, as had been arranged. However, he was left confused and isolated when the royal couple kept their distance.

Beckham allegedly discovered that his presence was deliberately minimized, with photographs of him and Harry together strictly forbidden. The author claims that this exclusion was not a decision made by Prince Harry himself but was attributed to Meghan Markle, who allegedly issued the directive to keep Beckham and his wife, Victoria, out of the media spotlight. According to Bower, Meghan was concerned that the presence of the Beckhams would overshadow her and Harry’s own media coverage, especially since Victoria Beckham had a significant public profile herself.

As the days unfolded, Beckham’s bewilderment grew as he remained at the games without the expected interaction with his longtime friend. The situation left Beckham feeling snubbed, as he had been a prominent figure at the royal wedding, but was now being kept at arm’s length.

Bower’s book suggests that this exclusion wasn’t something Beckham could easily forget. The hurt from that moment reportedly lingered for years, and it seemed that the Beckham family had quietly distanced themselves from the Sussexes. However, Beckham’s response wasn’t immediate, but when the opportunity presented itself, he chose to offer his support in a way that many saw as a clear indication of his feelings towards Prince Harry.

Fast forward to 2022, and the strained relationship between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, was becoming increasingly public. As the royal rift continued, Beckham’s loyalty seemed to shift. During the 2022 World Cup, when Prince William invited Beckham to Boston for the launch of the Earthshot Prize, Beckham eagerly accepted the offer. The Earthshot Prize, which aims to find innovative solutions to climate change, became a platform where Beckham could show his support for Prince William without the tensions that had arisen between Harry and his brother.

Beckham’s willingness to travel nearly 8,000 miles to attend the event, despite the long-standing tensions, was seen as a significant gesture of support for Prince William. It appeared that Beckham, having been alienated by Harry’s actions, found a more welcoming ally in the Duke of Cambridge.

While Bower’s claims about the events surrounding the Invictus Games and the fallout between Beckham and Harry remain unconfirmed by the parties involved, they add a new layer to the already complex dynamics of the royal family. What started as a friendly relationship between two influential figures in British society now appears to have been marred by misunderstandings and personal grievances.

As the years go by, the estrangement between the Sussexes and the Beckhams remains a topic of interest for royal observers. While Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Beckhams may never fully recover, it seems that David Beckham’s decision to offer his support to Prince William is a telling example of how the lines of loyalty in the royal world can shift when personal slights are perceived.

Whether or not the Beckhams and the Sussexes will ever repair their friendship remains to be seen, but it is clear that the cold treatment at the Invictus Games left a lasting impact, one that ultimately influenced the choices David Beckham made years later.
