Stacey Solomon, the beloved TV presenter and singer, recently shared an emotional moment with her fans,
as she opened up about her sons’ surprise debut in the hit Channel 4 soap *Hollyoaks*.
Her two older children, Zachary, 16, and Leighton, 12, have made their acting debut,
and their mum couldn’t contain her pride and excitement over their latest career venture.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story, Stacey revealed the unexpected and somewhat humorous circumstances that led to the opportunity.
Fans were quick to spot Zachary and Leighton in behind-the-scenes images posted by *Hollyoaks* on their official Instagram account.
The two boys, dressed in their on-set costumes, were seen enjoying their time on the set of the show. Stacey’s followers immediately took to social media, eager to ask if it was indeed her sons making a cameo. In response, Stacey shared her joy and confirmed the news: “So many of you are messaging me saying, ‘Was that Zach and Leighton I saw in *Hollyoaks*?’,” she wrote. “I know it’s so random but it was!”
Stacey, who is a mum-of-five, went on to explain the “funniest story” behind how her sons ended up in the soap. According to the 35-year-old star, the chance encounter took place during a red carpet event at the National Television Awards (NTAs). While at the event, Stacey and Zachary had the opportunity to meet one of *Hollyoaks’* executives. Zachary, who is a huge fan of the show, couldn’t hide his excitement. “Zach is the biggest *Hollyoaks* fan,” Stacey revealed. “When he was little, he used to get so excited for Sundays to watch the *Hollyoaks* Omnibus.”
Stacey continued to recount the encounter, sharing how Zachary, overwhelmed by his favorite show’s connection, immediately struck up a conversation with the executive. “He was like, ‘Oh my God, I love *Hollyoaks*!’ and he was talking to her, and she was like, ‘Why don’t you come down and see the set?'” Stacey explained. “He was just over the moon and so excited.” Despite Zachary’s enthusiasm, Stacey pointed out that neither Zachary nor Leighton have any interest in pursuing acting as a career. “Zach wants to be a mechanic when he’s older. There’s no interest in acting,” she said. “But he was just so excited to go and see the set.”
What started as a simple visit to the set turned into something more as *Hollyoaks* offered the boys a chance to appear as extras in a scene. Stacey described their experience: “So me, Zach, and Leighton went up there, and they just loved it. They were so nervous to be extras. They loved every second of it.” She praised the kindness of the cast and crew, adding, “The people at *Hollyoaks* were just so lovely and so kind and so nice to us, and they just had the best day ever.”
Stacey couldn’t help but share a proud moment on her social media, posting a picture of her sons alongside *Hollyoaks* stars Charlie Wernham and Charlie Clapham. She captioned the image, “My boys. For anyone who is raising teenagers, I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but it’s a rare moment with mine to see them really excited about something. So I can honestly say, watching how happy and excited they were this day made my heart so happy.”
As for their roles in *Hollyoaks*, Leighton appeared as a paperboy who was reprimanded for being late with his delivery, while Zachary portrayed a Parcel Patrons worker. Though their appearances were small, the experience was clearly meaningful for both boys—and for Stacey, who expressed how happy it made her to see her children so excited about something new.
