Meghan Markle has been the subject of several high-profile claims regarding her time working with Spotify,

particularly in relation to her podcast *Archetypes*.

A recent report has shed light on a less-than-flattering nickname that former staff members allegedly gave her during her involvement with the project.

According to UK royal correspondent Neil Sean, disgruntled employees decided to call Markle “Eva,”

which they used to signal her arrival or when she was in a particularly bad mood.

This wasn’t an affectionate nickname, but rather one inspired by a character in the 1955 film *Queen Bee*, played by Joan Crawford.

Sean explained that the name was linked to Crawford’s portrayal of a manipulative, high-maintenance socialite who “set out to destroy the lives of all those around her.” This comparison suggests that, according to these former employees, Meghan’s behavior mirrored the character’s cutthroat and demanding nature. Staff allegedly felt that Markle’s moods and actions could be unpredictable, and the nickname “Eva” was a way to prepare for or avoid confrontations. The film’s portrayal of the character, Eva Phillips, aligns with the idea of a person who could “sting” others, which seems to have resonated with how Markle was perceived by some of those who worked with her.

The report comes shortly after *Vanity Fair* released an article revisiting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s journey, five years after stepping down from their roles as working royals. As part of this feature, former colleagues of Meghan spoke candidly about their experiences working with her. In the beginning, many described her as warm and effusive, fostering an atmosphere of professionalism and camaraderie. However, the mood would quickly change when things went wrong. Those close to her said she became “cold and withholding,” particularly towards individuals she believed were responsible for any mishaps or setbacks.

Neil Sean added that Meghan’s unpredictable behavior was a major source of frustration for her staff. They reportedly found it difficult to navigate her mood swings, particularly when aspects of her career were going well. Her demeanor led to the staff’s characterization of her as “tough” and “bossy,” which eventually resulted in the infamous nickname. Sean described Markle as having a “high camp” nature, though he noted that she may not have been aware of how her behavior came across to those around her.

In addition to the reported nickname, the *Vanity Fair* article included several other claims about Meghan’s time in the public eye and her working relationships. Among these was the suggestion that a member of her team was spotted shopping for a post-divorce book, implying potential tensions between Meghan and her royal family, as well as some struggles in her personal and professional life. The article also claimed that Beyoncé declined an invitation to appear on *Archetypes*, which would have been a significant celebrity guest for the podcast.

Despite some of the challenges and criticisms, *Archetypes* experienced commercial success. The podcast topped Spotify’s charts in several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. It also won the top podcast award at the People’s Choice Awards. However, in 2023, it was revealed that the production company founded by Harry and Meghan had mutually parted ways with Spotify, less than a year after the podcast’s debut.

While *Archetypes* may have faced challenges behind the scenes, its success in terms of audience reach and recognition highlights Meghan’s ability to make an impact, even amid controversy. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue their post-royal journey, it remains clear that their endeavors will continue to attract both praise and criticism from various quarters.

Meghan Markle’s nickname and the surrounding revelations from former staff paint a picture of a complex personality navigating both public and private pressures. While some might see the nickname as an indication of her leadership style, it also serves as a reminder of the difficulties that come with high-profile projects and the intense scrutiny that accompanies the lives of public figures.
