In her candid post, Elman reflected on one of the downsides of being single. “Well, life took a turn,” she wrote.

“There are so many things I love about being single, but one thing that’s absolute pants is going to A&E alone in the middle of the night.”

The experience highlighted a struggle that many people who live independently

or away from family members might relate to—having no immediate support system in moments of crisis.

Elman elaborated on the challenges of not having someone to rely on in these situations.

She revealed that she often struggles with listing an emergency contact because she has no family in the country, no partner, and no close friend who could be there for her at short notice.

“Not having family in the country, a number-one bestie, or a partner means I often struggle to even list an emergency contact,” she admitted.

A Deeper Message About Friendship and Support

Despite dealing with a frightening situation, Elman found a way to connect her personal experience with a larger issue—friendship and support networks. She linked her hospital visit to her passion project, Bad Friend, a platform where she speaks about the importance of meaningful friendships.

“It’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about Bad Friend,” she explained. “You might have a whole bunch of friends to invite to your birthday, but how many do you have who you can call at midnight to come with you to A&E?”

Her words resonated with many, highlighting the reality that while social connections can seem strong on the surface, true friendships are often tested in moments of need.

Staying Positive Despite Health Challenges

Elman, who has been open about her past health struggles, reflected on the irony of the situation. Just days before her unexpected hospital visit, she had spoken about how well her year was going.

“The irony is not lost on me that my last post was saying how this year was turning out to be my best year yet,” she wrote. “Even two days ago, I was being asked about my past surgeries, and I said I’d been on such a good streak.”

Her words hinted at the unpredictable nature of health challenges, especially for those who have dealt with chronic conditions. However, instead of focusing on the negative, she chose to embrace her philosophy of making the most of life.

“Live as much life as you can between the hospitalizations,” she advised. “And right now, I really, really mean it.”

Grateful for NHS Staff

Despite the difficult circumstances, Elman made sure to express her gratitude towards the medical professionals who treated her during the late-night emergency.

“PS—so grateful for the NHS,” she wrote, acknowledging the kindness and patience of the staff who looked after her. “Every person was so kind and patient, especially for midnight.”

Her heartfelt appreciation struck a chord with many followers, who praised her for recognizing the hard work and dedication of healthcare professionals.

Fans Show Their Support

Following her post, Elman received an outpouring of supportive messages from fans and followers. Many shared their own experiences of facing health issues alone, while others commended her for speaking so openly about the challenges of navigating life without a strong support system.

Her message served as an important reminder of the value of deep, meaningful friendships and the importance of having people to rely on in times of crisis.

Despite her hospital visit, Elman’s words showed her resilience and determination to continue living life to the fullest, no matter the obstacles she faces.
