Ruth Langsford has apologised to viewers after making her grand return to Loose Women after weeks away following her and Eamonn Holmes’ split announcement.
TV couple, who previously hosted This Morning as a duo, sent shockwaves through the showbiz world when they announced their separation in May after 14 years together.
Ruth has stayed silent about the separation while taking a break from work, but Eamonn swiftly returned to GB News and thanked fans for their support.
And now, after over a month away from ITV’s Loose Women, Ruth was welcomed back with open arms.
Before the show began at 12:30pm, she took to her Instagram Stories to tease her return with a video of the hallway at the studio.
She focused the camera over the Loose Women sign on the wall before panning the camera to the neon ‘Let’s get loose!’ sign.
Ruth captioned the post: “Back on the Loose! Hope you can join us!” As the show began, she addressed her return and told viewers at home: “Welcome to your first Loose Women of the week, it’s great to have your company!” Before they got the show on the road, Coleen Nolan was quick to interrupt Ruth and pause the programme to share a message of support. She said: “Can I just say? I am so so happy that you’re back!”
The entire audience clapped as Janet Street-Porter said: “Thank god! Thank god! I was left with her and her!” before Ruth apologised and added: “I’m sorry, Janet. I won’t do it again,” referring to the weeks she took away from the show. Loose Women also took to the Instagram page to share a picture of Ruth and Coleen Nolan hugging as they welcomed her back onto the show. The two beamed with joy as they squeezed each other tight.
Fans were excited to have her back and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their support while some were curious and said: “Ruth back! Has she mentioned Eamonn yet?” One user posted: “Hmmmm Ruth returns….. any mention of her recent breakup??”
Ruth looked stunning rocking a bright orange blazer and white shirt upon her return. The TV presenter glowed as she sported a fresh tan and flawless makeup following her holiday with “younger people” in Tenerife. Despite the many differences in her usual look, the star made a defiant statement with one specific accessory. She kept her wedding ring on as she chatted to her fellow panellists on the latest topics. Her estranged husband Eamonn has also been proudly wearing his ring as he presents on GB News.
Unsurprisingly, the panellists discussed the Strictly Come Dancing drama, which saw Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice dropped from the line-up amid allegations. Anton Du Beke was also reportedly dragged into the row over past offensive comments he made – which he apologised for.
Ruth, who took part in the dance competition, defended her former dance partner Anton and shared her positive experience on the show. The star said: “I had a wonderful experience on Strictly and had the best partner in Anton du Beke. He raised an eyebrow occasionally and I would burst into tears and he would have to take me for a cup of tea. I had a wonderful time. You don’t really see the other contestants because you’re in your own rehearsal room. You only kind of meet up on Friday and then you do the show on Saturday.
“It is a terrifying experience, but I knew that going into it. I’m not a dancer. The trouble is the spotlight is on some people and there are many others who had a fantastic experience with Strictly and did get on with their partners.”
Before her return, fans were desperate to have her back and said the show ‘wasn’t the same without her’. One person recently asked: “#loosewomen When is Ruth back on again?” As another shared the same sentiment, adding: “I miss Ruth, it’s not the same #loosewomen.” Meanwhile, other viewers held other opinions with regard to the July 10 panel as they predicted it would not be a good episode.
It was announced that TV couple Ruth and Eamonn would be heading their separate ways back in May but Ruth has refrained from speaking about their breakup but has shared updates on her life on Instagram. However, it was previously understood that she was preparing to chat about it live on-air with her co-stars’ support.
A TV insider told MailOnline: “The presenters on Loose Women have a history of opening up about their marriage splits on air and it’s a very supportive environment. Ruth knows the viewers are heavily invested in her breakup so she will be addressing her and Eamonn for the first time on the show.”
The source continued: “She will be surrounded by the people she’s closest to on the show and then will be drawing a line under it… she has no plans to do a big interview, this will be the one and only time she speaks.”
