On Thursday morning, *Today* show anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin opened the show from the comfort of Studio 1A,
enjoying the warmth of their studio as they went over the headlines.
But the moment they turned to their colleague, Dylan Dreyer, braving the frigid temperatures outside, their comfort quickly turned to sympathy.
Dylan, a meteorologist known for her willingness to report from some of the most extreme weather conditions, was on the plaza in New York City,
wrapped up in warm layers to face a winter storm sweeping across the Midwest and East Coast.
As she stood outside in the bitter cold, Savannah and Craig winced in sympathy as they watched their colleague endure the harsh elements.

“It’s worse than it looks,” Dylan shared, her voice cutting through the wind as she gave an update on the weather, confirming just how intense the winter conditions were. Savannah couldn’t help but feel a sense of “guilt” over Dylan’s exposure to the freezing temperatures. The *Today* host even urged Dylan to take a break and come inside for a hot cup of chocolate, a gesture of kindness that highlighted how much Savannah felt for her colleague.
Dylan Dreyer is no stranger to extreme weather conditions. As a meteorologist, she has braved the elements many times throughout her career. From storm chases to reporting live from extreme weather events, Dylan has become known for her commitment to her job, even when it requires going out into some of the most challenging environments.
“I’m 100% committed to my job, and I love it,” Dylan has previously stated about her role as a meteorologist. “I adore traveling around the world for exciting, and sometimes dangerous, assignments.” Despite the tough nature of her work, it’s clear that Dylan thrives in her role, relishing the opportunity to share important weather information with viewers.
However, while Dylan is passionate about her job, there is one thing she doesn’t enjoy as much—being away from her family. She has opened up about the difficulty of balancing her career with family life, especially since the birth of her three boys, Rusty, Ollie, and Calvin. Before becoming a mother, Dylan and her husband, Brian Fichera, had their doubts about starting a family, but once the idea clicked, they were both thrilled.
“We didn’t think we wanted kids at all,” Dylan revealed in an interview with *HELLO!* magazine. “We were living in New York City, traveling whenever we wanted, doing whatever we wanted, and then suddenly it sort of came to us both. We were like ‘let’s have kids.’ Both of us obviously love it.”
Dylan and Brian’s journey to parenthood has been an unexpected but joyful one, and today, they’re the proud parents of three boys. Despite her busy career, Dylan loves being a mom, although she admits that the idea of having another child isn’t on the table. When asked if they would try for a girl, Dylan joked, “With my track record, it’s likely I’d have another boy!” She added, “Don’t think Brian and I haven’t had that conversation, but it’s like, no, we are so done. I know my luck, and it would be a fourth boy!”
She also humorously mentioned that they’re already quite cozy with three kids, all of whom share a room, making the idea of adding a fourth child feel a bit overwhelming. “I’ve got all three kids in one room,” she said with a laugh. “Four just seems crazy to me.”
Interestingly, the number three holds special significance for both Dylan and Brian. Dylan grew up with two brothers, and her husband is also one of three children. “When we decided to have children, I used to always want three,” she said. “Three just feels right for us now.”
As the cold weather sweeps across the country, viewers can count on Dylan Dreyer to deliver important weather updates, no matter how harsh the conditions may be. But as we saw on Thursday’s *Today* show, her colleagues, especially Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, can’t help but feel a little guilty seeing their friend face the chill on their behalf.
And while Dylan may be out in the cold for the job she loves, it’s clear that her family and the warmth of home are never far from her heart.
